Where have I been?

Posted by Rob under: Family; General .

“Rob, where have you been? I’ve been looking at your blog every day for the last two weeks, but you seem to have dropped off the map! “, I hear you say. or something along those lines. Fear not - I’m still here. I wasn’t planning on taking a blogging break - it just kind of happened on its own.

Joyanne and the kids went for their UK summer break at the beginning of July, and got back to France on Wednesday this week. So what did I spend my time doing while they were away. Here’s some of what I did, in no particular order:

1. Worked

2. Did some more work

3. Did some more work (OK, you get the idea…)

4. Went to the cinema to see “The Happening”. Despite some of the great films previously made by this director (Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village), I have to say that this is one of the worst films I’ve seen in a long time.

5. Drank Guinness and played pool in an Irish pub. (Yes, here in Le Havre!)

6. Went to church.

7. Bought a new computer. After 18 years as a Windows PC user, I’ve taken the plunge into the Mac world. I’m not regretting it so far, though changing over is a lot of work.

8. Had a friend round to eat pizza and watch a film. (We intended to order two pizzas but got a third one free, so ate WAY too much!)

9. Went to church again (this time I was preaching).

10. Mowed the lawn.

11. Did some washing.

Exciting life, huh? Seriously, it was a fairly busy time while they were all away, mainly with work and changing over computers. I was so glad to have them back on Wednesday - I really was not made to live alone. (And I don’t just mean because I’m no good at cooking!)

I also had a bit of a bonanza on films while I was alone - mostly watched very late in the evening. (Whenever Joyanne and the kids are away I tend to end up working late, and consequently eating late and going to bed late…). Here are the films I watched: The Godfather, The Godfather Part II, The Godfather Part III, Casino, Taxi Driver, Reservoir Dogs, Once Upon a Time in America, Meet Joe Black. You can tell I’m a De Niro fan.

Well, that’s all for now. This afternoon we’re invited to the 30th birthday celebration of someone from our church. After two or three days of hot sunshine, today’s forecast is for rain. Shame. Only five days till we go camping in the Loire (Thursday). Can’t wait! I will definitely try to post again between now and then.
