Grapevine
Posted by Rob under: Family; General .
On Wednesday morning we returned home from Grapevine. Once again, it was a wonderful opportunity to participate in rousing corporate worship, receive top quality, inspirational teaching, and also connect with many friends who we don’t otherwise have chance to see. (The one thing we completely forgot to do while we were there was to take any photos!)
There were so many good things that it’s hard to single out any one. However, in terms of the speakers, I suppose I would have to say that the one who stood out most as being completely different from anyone I’ve heard before was David Ring. David is a 54-year-old American from Nashville born with cerebral palsy, and who God has used for 35 years to preach the Gospel in the US and throughout the world. If ever there was a story of overcoming and being a champion in life against all the odds, his story is it. I think there was almost not a dry eye in the house as David shared his life story, and it would be difficult to forget his two key mesages of “I have cerebral palsy…what’s your problem?” and “If God can use me, he can use any of you”. Truly inspirational and deeply challenging.
This evening we’re invited to the neighbours for what was originally intended to be a barbecue, but given the somewhat drab and cold weather (you would think it was October) I’m sure we’ll be indoors. Hopefully that means it won’t be too late - unlike our French friends, we struggle to tuck into a hearty dessert at 1 o’clock in the morning!

Sounds like you had a good time at Grapevine, we had Dave Ring come to Kings last year and like you guys were impacted by his story and his attitude to life.
Like you we are fed up with this weather, it has been very warm today, but very dull and cloudy.
Back to work next week… one more week of having church at the Odeon and then back to Kings.

May be able to help you out with the photos of Grapevine as I took a few photos of people on the Sunday when we were all having lunch.
