We’re all going on a summer holiday
Posted by Rob under: Family .
It’s approaching 10pm, and we’re finally just about ready to go on our summer holiday. The car is loaded, the route is planned, essential work is finished…all that remains is to get in the car tomorrow morning and drive.
Speaking of loading the car, have you come across the universal law which dictates that no matter how much effort you make to keep luggage to a minimum, no matter how many things you can think of that you know you took last time and are not taking this time, your car will always be full to the gills when you go on holiday? Once again we had to work hard to fit everything in. I can’t imagine how we did it before we bought our roof box last year. (Actually I can - we didn’t go camping so had much less stuff to take.)
Our camping destination is the Loire valley. In case you don’t know where that is, this map should give you an idea.
The thing that the Loire valley is most famous for is its Châteaux. It has many magnificent ones which are glorious to behold from outside, and a good number of which can be toured on the inside too. One of the nearest ones to our campsite is Chenonceau (photo 1), and another one that’s only just down the road is Amboise (photo 2):

Pretty impressive, eh? Of course, one of the other cultural elements without which any trip to the Loire would be incomplete is wine tasting. I’m sure we might manage at least one trip to a “cave” - some of these enable you to see the wine-making process in action and sample various different vintages. Mmmmm!
No internet access while we’re away (as far as I know), so our days will be spent visiting châteaux, walking through woods, lying in the (hopefully) scorching hot sun by the pool, and generally not thinking much about anything to do with work, church and the responsibilities of normal life. My objective is pure escapism.
See you next week!

Bonne vacances, et profitez-en bien !!!
C’est dommage que la voiture est pleine, tu ne pourras pas ramener de grands millésimes, snif !!!!
Bon, et ne nous reviens pas “bon à rouler” quand même, avec modération les dégustations !
a ++++
