Rob
Rob originally hails from South Yorkshire (a fact the French find quite amusing because the only type of “Yorkshire” they know is the Yorkshire terrier). He went to university in Nottingham where he studied French and Linguistics, and ended up meeting and marrying Joyanne there. After ten years in Nottingham, they moved to the Coventry area in 1999, were they stayed for several years before answering God’s call to go to France in 2005.
Rob’s interest in France goes back to his childhood, but it was in his late teens that God began to form this interest into a passion to serve God in France and see Him move in a significant way. But after receiving that original calling from God, he had to wait around 18 years before God actually opened the door to move to France. This period included his university years and a successful 11-year career with major UK bank.
Rob’s other passion has always been music. A drummer from the age of five, he later took up piano and guitar. Before moving to France, he was involved in leading worship in UK churches for over 15 years. For the last few years, Rob has had the privilege of knowing and working with Chris Bowater, one of the UK’s leading exponents of authentic and prophetic worship. He was one of the first students of the groundbreaking Worship Academy in the UK, and is now partnering with Chris in carrying the vision to see one or more Worship Academies established in France.
Rob currently works as a freelance translator and consultant, and serves as part of the leadership of his local church in Le Havre, where he also leads the worship team and regularly preaches.
