Joseph
Hi, my name’s Joseph and I’m 13 years old. I am in “cinquième”, which is the French equivalent of year 8 or second year at comprehensive school. My school is called “Collège Raymond Queneau”, it’s in the middle of Montivilliers where we live, and I ride their on my bike. I especially like maths and history/geography, and I really don’t like art - but mainly because of the teacher! I do rock wall climbing and badminton after school on Mondays and Tuesdays. One other thing about school here that’s really unfair - we have to go on Saturday mornings!
Here are some of the things I like doing in my spare time:
- I really like anything to do with Lord of the Rings: I’ve read all the books and watched all the films loads of times, and also have quite a few figures. My favourite hero is Aragorn because he’s so courageous, and my favourite bad guy is the Witch King of Arnor because he’s so terrifyingly powerful.
- I collect, paint and game with Lord of the Rings strategy battle game figures (a type of Warhammer figure: small plastic figures that come plain and unassembled and you have to put them together and paint them). I’ve got about 250 at the moment.
- I often play on games consoles with my friends. We’ve got a PlayStation 2 and I also have a Nintendo DS Lite and a GameBoy. My favourite PS2 games are various Lord of the Rings games, and I like playing Pokemon Diamond on the DS.
I’ve recently started going to Youth at our church here in Le Havre. If everyone comes, there are about 8 of us. I’m the youngest, and the oldest is about 26! We meet on a Saturday evening, and we sometimes have a Bible study or discussion, or play games (maybe at someone’s house), or even o somewhere like the cinema. Also at church, I am part of the team that is in charge of the video projector. That means sitting at a computer during the Sunday morning worship and projecting the words of the songs.
